The Vanguard Academy’s student body is composed of students of all abilities, including those with and without special education needs. The average classroom includes eight to nine students with two co-teachers. Curriculum, instruction, and assessments are differentiated to meet the individual abilities, interests, and needs of each student. Standard, modified, and functional academics are provided, depending on the needs and long-term goals of each student.
The Vanguard Academy follows multiple curricula to meet the unique abilities, interests, and needs of each student. Classroom teachers, with supervision and guidance from their Coordinators and the Directors/Principal, regularly develop, evaluate, and adjust the curricular scope and sequence to maintain relevance for the students in their classes.
Enrollment is available throughout the regular school year, August to May, and the summer enrichment program, June and July. Enrollment depends on two main factors: 1) optimal match between the student and the school and 2) availability of slots in the grade level or program for the student.
