Pre-Kindergarten and K-12 Programs

The Vanguard Academy’s teams of teachers continuously develop academic programs that are tailored to honor students’ strengths and short or long-term planning for their uniquely different life paths. Because of the wide range of our students’ abilities, our standard, modified, and functional curricula strikes a balance between rigor and flexibility and provides for a combination of relevant and engaging content and skills. Embedded in all of our curricula is the development of key skills for full participation in the home, school, and community settings, such as social and communication skills, daily living and independence skills, executive functioning skills, and self-advocacy skills.

Our school culture values teachers and students’ contributions, strengths, areas for improvement, unique goals, and levels of progress. Our students develop strong self-confidence and relationships with their peers, as their teachers facilitate student agency, empowerment, and a sense of interdependence.

For students with special education needs, The Vanguard Academy provides necessary school-based support to ensure their equitable access to our curriculum. Students’ Individualized Education and Transition Programs provide a range of support, such as classroom and instructional accommodations, curricular modifications, functional academics, one-to-one or small group classes, and allied health and related services.
